Girls Are More

Education is important to Malala because,she wants to prove a point and stand up for what she really believes in.”As the traffic slowed to a crawl,he put in a cassette to pass the time.Suddenly he ejected his tape.He scrambled to gather up the other cassettes he kept in the glove box.”Quick,” he said to my mother, “hide these in your handbag.”Two men drew near our car.They were wearing black turbans and camouflage vests over their shalwar kamiz.They had long hair and beards,and the were carrying Kalashnikov automatic weapons.I was face-to-face with the Taliban.They were searching cars for anything they claimed was forbidden by Islam.None of us said a word,but I saw my mother’s hand shake as she gripped her purse,where the haram items were hidden.She pulled her veil more securely to her face,and lowered her gaze to her lap.The Talib leaned into the back window.His eyes bored into mine.”Sisters,” he said to both of us “you must wear a burqa.You are bringing shame.”How was I bringing shame?I wanted to ask him.I was a child,a ten year old girl who liked playing hide and seek and studying science.I was angry,but I knew it would do no good to try to reason with him.I knew I should have been afraid,but I only felt frustration.”She just wants to go to school and learn.There are over 1 billion illiterate adults in our world today that’s about 26% of the world:0 She also lives around a school and her dad is a principal.Malala doesn’t think that girls getting their education is a bad thing.She thinks that girls are not just for cooking,and cleaning.She thinks that all girls should have as much equal rights as anyone,even a guy.And now the taliban is telling all of the girls that they can no longer go to school.So Malala wants to protest against that shae doesn’t think that it’s right to tell a girl that she can’t go to school or the market just because she is a girl.Since she doesn’t think that they are right she attends shcool anyways!And that is why I think that education is so important to Malala.Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoyed. :] <3
